About

This prototype of a participatory database collects information about livelihoods and lifespans of hand-woven products. It records growing fiber and fleece and how the thread emerges in spinning. It demonstrates how weavers turn the thread into garments and proves the materials' journeys of multiple usages afterward.
The collective efforts of all participants will make them visible as makers and users, provide provenance for the materials. DATAWEAVE tells the stories of the woven materials while harboring cultural values that remain otherwise hidden along the way.
DATAWEAVE is a non-commercial pilot research project. We aim to collect sufficient data that will warrant future larger scale applications connecting, visualising and celebrating communities of makers. Please get in touch and come and join us!
